Hosting a community event is very important, especially in Bradford on Avon.

Our arts festival is not only a joyous occasion, there is an abundance of talent across the arts that comes together every year to give the event its distinctive and creative edge.

September 2010 is the seventh annual arts festival, with events being held in various venues and open spaces in and around the town. This year’s theme is The BIG Splash - which we hope will go down well with everybody. Feedback from last year showed the success of the event within the community.

The festival committee is completely voluntary, with individuals coming from all walks of life within the town. The festival receives a grant from the local council and where possible other funding bodies, but it is primarily self-financing. So the town’s continued support for the event is vital.

Tickets will be available on line (and through other outlets) from Monday 2 August. The festival brochure will be available from Monday 2 August. As you take a look round the website, you’ll notice some additional features. We have introduced a free festival e-newsletter, The Splash. We have also launched a Facebook site and a Twitter feed.

The BIG Splash is not far off. We hope you enjoy it when it comes.

Thanks for your interest, thanks for your support. Thanks for being the festival!

As Town Mayor it is a real pleasure to write a forward for the Bradford on Avon Arts Festival

The Festival has something for absolutely everyone: fun, participation, culture - so much on offer throughout the ten days.

The BIG Splash on Sunday 19 September will be a wonderful day - one not to be missed. Last year I would loved to have been able to split myself in two - there were so many fantastic events on the programme! 2010 promises to be as good.

I wish the organisers (who work so hard to put this on for us all) a fantastic response to all the events and all participants a fulfilling and joyous experience.

So do come along and join in a festival full of colour, sound, music, words and fun. There is a wide range of talent and creativity in and around our town. Please give everyone involved your support.

Best wishes for ten great days.

Cllr Isabel Martindale
